Mighty Music - Nick Norton-Smith and David Roper

An award winning multi-instrumentalist and composer, Nick’s composing credits include Decimate (BBC1 75 episodes), LK Today (GMTV 320 episodes), Andrew Roberts on Napoleon ( BBC2 3 x 60’), and numerous short film, documentary and NGO commissions. His production music is used extensively in BBC Masterchef (all formats), and by many other UK and international outlets including The Grand Tour, BBC TV and radio, Sky TV and CNN. As a saxophonist he has worked with, among others, Frank Sinatra, Shirley Bassey and the Brand New Heavies, as well as in numerous TV, theatre, radio and video productions.

David has composed for Shakespeare at the Ludlow Festival and at theatres throughout the country and in the USA. His first venture into TV was to be musical director for We’ve Got Your Number the national lottery programme with Brian Conley which was seen by audiences up to 15 million each week. He then went on to perform and compose for Dating Hell with Rowland Rivron for Sky1. He co- composed the music for Richard Bacon’s Rent Free for the BBC and eventually went on to spend 10 years at BBC TV centre with 4 Poofs and a Piano on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. In this time, he also conducted The Sound of Musicals a prime time musical theatre show with a 26-piece orchestra featuring artists such as Sir Willard White, Lesley Garret, Mica Paris and John Barrowman. He was co-composer with Nick Norton-Smith on Decimate for BBC1 working with Lynn and Hugh and most recently on Impossible also for BBC1.
